SA Forum Specifications Realize Commercially Available Products

SA Forum Demonstrates Spec Implementations at CTIA Wireless 2005

PORTLAND, Oregon, March 14, 2005 — The Service Availability Forum (SA Forum), the leader in developing open specifications for carrier-grade service availability, today announced that its specifications are being implemented by industry leaders. Companies including HP, IBM, Motorola, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Sun Microsystems, GoAhead Software, Intel, Clovis Solutions, Solid Information Technology and MontaVista Software are implementing SA Forum specifications, enabling the development of Carrier-Grade Platforms using commercial off-theshelf (COTS) building blocks. These companies will be represented at CTIA Wireless 2005 where they will demonstrate products that utilize SA Forum specifications.

The SA Forum specifications include the Hardware Platform Interface Specification (HPI) and the Application Interface Specification (AIS). By implementing these specifications, companies are able to take advantage of a growing number of COTS products that are capable of cooperating in an SA Forum compliant architecture. This frees up organizations to dedicate a greater focus on their core competencies, thus increasing their distinctive value to their customers. Other benefits of implementing SA Forum specifications include: faster time to market and revenue; broader component choice; reduced lifecycle costs; and the ability to tap into an expanded market for open standard products.

Members have joined forces to create and demonstrate base platforms and service provider applications built with SA Forum-based building blocks. The booth participants include HP, IBM, Motorola, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Clovis Solutions, Oracle, GoAhead Software, Ericsson, Solid Information Technology, Sun Microsystems, Intel and MontaVista Software.
